The blog assignment this week is to analyze the body language communicated during the recent vice presidential debate. Check out this brief
clip. Watch the clip with the sound off. What are the messages that the candidates are sending? Which candidate is communicating a more likeable message for you with their nonverbal? Does the evaluation that you have formed change when the clip is watched again with the sound on?

***The link led me to a clip (after clicking on 10/6)of O'Reilly talking about McCain and why people are blaming him for the economic crisis NOT the VP Debate? Then I clicked on the body language link and the first analysis was on Pelosi so that's what I blogged about!***
I agree with the body language expert that Pelosi's hand gestures are not in synch with her speech. I don't even really think it takes a body language expert to notice that she is attempting to sound forceful, powerful, and that what she is saying is very important. It may very well be important, but her delivery is pushy and it definitely seems rehearsed. It was hard to even concentrate on what she was saying because her forceful, out of rhythm hand movements were so distracting and overpowering. Bill O’Reilly even compared her motions to rock artist Joe Cocker. It was mentioned between the expert and O’Reilly, that perhaps she is simply not coordinated. This may be true, but I definitely think that her attempts to sound dramatic and important overpowered the speech and were the main reason for her unsuccessful delivery.
